Job Description

Lead SQL DBAA powerhouse in the wealth management and professional services industry are looking for a Lead SQL DBA to join their team in Bracknell on an initial 12 month contract, with the option to work remotely two or three days each week.Responsibilities:

  • Administering SQL in virtual environment (on premise and Azure in the future)
  • Provide platform support to internal and external developers.
  • Provide first and second line help desk support for SQL Server issues.
  • Maintain database documentation as required.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes
  • Monitor systems health and performance
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
  • Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours when needed
Skills Experience / Required
  • Significant experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • Microsoft Server Server (version 2012 onwards)
    • Backup and recovery strategy and implementation.
    • Performance Tuning using native or 3rdparty tools
    • SQL Server maintenance, job scheduling and alerting.
    • SQL AlwaysOn with Availability Groups
    • T-SQL scripting experience (optimisations, queries)
    • PowerShell scripting
    • Experience with SSIS and SSRS
    • SQL Server installation, configuration, patching and upgrading.
  • Understanding of source control such as TFS, BitBucket
  • Experience of business analysis and requirement gathering
  • Understanding of database role in DevOps processes
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Exposure to Windows 2012/2016/2019
  • Experience working within an ITIL framework
Preferred Skills / Experience
  • MCSA SQL Server qualification
  • Experience working in a regulated industry
  • Ideally exposure to Cloud Technologies such as Azure
