We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Legal Assistant working at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a Temporary Full-time role, initially for the next 3 months.The RoleYour role will be to mainly undertake Adult work, you be required to have in house experience within the public sector in a legal team/private practice experience. The role will involve requesting evidence, preparing bundling, drafting applications, answering calls, liaising with clients and other stakeholders and briefing counsel. Experience of court of protection and debt recovery work for care home fees, would also be useful.DutiesTo be able to draft chronologies, case synopses and less complex pleadings i.e. freeing for adopting applications, applications to displace nearest relatives etc.Provide legal and administrative support to solicitors in Legal Services, including Preparing, issuing, and arranging service of proceedings / setting up files on computerised system / attending upon witnesses to prepare statements or reports / arranging for the filing and service of statements or reports, arranging for the attendance of witnesses at court / indexing and preparing paginated bundles.Also as advised by the Senior Lawyer to arrange conferences with Counsel / instruct and attend conferences with Counsel and brief and attend hearings with Counsel.As instructed by the Senior Lawyer to attend case conferences, reviews, planning and professional meetings.Administer applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority on behalf of children looked after by the Council.Researching points of law or procedure under guidance of the Senior LawyerKey Requirements
