Job Description

About the Company:Our client is looking to appoint a Service Manager across 2 small residential homes that offer a warm, safe, friendly environment for their young adults (aged 14+).Job Purpose:

  • To act as the Nominated Individual and / or Registered Manager for the service in accordance with Ofsted requirements
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Ofsted regulations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of their Services, providing direct line management to staff
  • Ensure the services meet the requirements of Local Authorities commissioning the services
  • Manage business development activities to grow provision and reputation
  • Ensure the groups Vision, Mission, and Core Values are integral to all activities
  • Provide direct support to young people receiving services, including activities outside the immediate service environment
  • Provide staff with advice and assistance outside office hours
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure staffing requirements for each of the company’s service are satisfactory, monitor staff rotas, and manage absences
  • Submit financial reports in a timely manner, including staff payroll information and wider budgetary requirements
  • Maintain the quality of services in line with Ofsted requirements, ensuring a minimum of a Good’ rating at all times
  • Ensure the financial and commercial viability of the company, implementing remedial actions when required
  • Establish arrangements for each service to function safely, including utilities, services, food, and cleaning materials
  • Maintain and monitor "household" finances, including petty cash
  • Provide appropriate training and development for all staff consistent with their job role
  • Undertake health and safety duties as detailed in the company’s Health and Safety Policy
  • Liaise with other departments (e.g., Finance, Data Protection) to ensure the smooth running of the service
  • Comply with the company’s Policy and Procedures
  • Undertake any other duties and / or responsibilities in connection with the leadership and management of the company as directed by the Head of Operations and CEO
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification equivalent to NVQ3 in Children’s and / or Young People Health & social care, learning disability, mental health challenges or physical disability
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management position
  • Experience of working as an operational manager within an OFSTED registered service
  • Experience of managing support provision for young people in a care environment
  • Experience of staff recruitment and development processes
  • Experience of writing day to day and complex reports
  • Experience of undertaking assessment of potential service-users
  • Experience of facilitating person-centred plans and transition plans for service-users
  • Experience of conducting internal audits, making recommendations and improvements where necessary, to increase service quality and outcomes
  • Experience of budget management
  • Experience of providing training, guidance and support to staff
Desirable:
  • Level 4 or equivalent NVQ in Leadership and Management.
  • Registered Managers Award or L5 Leadership and Management in Care.
  • Experience of building networks/ partnerships with statutory commissioners of children’s/young people’s services
  • Experience of responsibility for the development, costing, contracting including preparation of tenders, quotations and presentations
  • Experience of acting as a Registered Manager.
  • Experience of carrying out staff investigations and disciplinary meetings.
