Job Description

Operations Manager role for a manufacturing company role based in Bolton. Senior management position, working for a growing automotive company and part of a larger group.Client DetailsOur client is a leading automotive first tier supplier based in BoltonDescriptionThe purpose of the role is to lead the Operations leadership team ensuring all production safety, quality, delivery, profitability, continuous improvement targets and standards are delivered through engaging leadership and strong people management capability.Build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders, inspiring them with credibility, knowledge and expertise, whilst empowering the workforce to make a difference.

  • Oversee the daily workings of operations. Plan, manage, and implement schedules to ensure deadlines are met, and maintain a high-quality standard of product production and delivery. Report KPI achievement and recovery / improvement strategies to the GM.Always ensure that policies and procedures are followed and updated, where required.
  • Champion of a Health & Safety Comes First environment ensuring compliance with corporate and legal requirements. Support with H&S initiatives where required and control operations impact on the environment. Logging and controlling waste.
  • Devise, set and flow down sustainable departmental short, medium and long term objectives, aligning them to corporate strategy and vision. Devise appropriate budgets, taking into account CI activities.
  • Plan, organise and develop the required personnel, competence, equipment, facilities and budgets to ensure achievement of departmental section / game plan.
  • Manage the growth and success of the team. Develop a high-performance culture and engage with direct reports through visible leadership, regular communication, performance management and development opportunities. Ensure full potential of individuals isrealised and appropriate support is assigned (i.e. training, succession planning). Promote team engagement.
  • Continually challenge manufacturing processes and capabilities. Promote development of manufacturing processes to meet current and future business requirements. Encourage Production and Engineering departments to encompass CI activity into their processesand provide internal expertise on tools and techniques.
  • Ensure the achievement of customer delivery, quality, and quantity requirements in accordance with build specification. Monitor actual status / data requirements, materials, production achievement, stock and deliveries, taking proactive action where required.
  • Drive, monitor, evaluate and report on departmental performance. Support with information gathering, interpretation and presentation to group where required
  • Support with product launch deliverables (APQP, PPAP), review of readiness of production areas for product launch and budget control.
Profile
  • You must be a proven operations manager / manufacturing manager / production manager in the automotive or electronics industry, or a high-speed environment with similar pressures.
  • Sound commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and devise financial statements / plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - highly developed presentation skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of the group
  • Shows tenacity and drive to meet and exceed expectations and standards.
  • Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification desirable.
  • Experience with Tier 1 OEM environment, or another volume manufacturing environment with similar pressures.
  • Clear Capability of Driving OEE% improvement
  • Direct experience of Quality and Engineering problem solving methodologies (i.e. 8D, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, Ishikawa, PDCA)Knowledge of IATF auditing standardsProject Management / Cross Functional Leadership experience
Job Offer£50,000 to £55,000 plus car allowance, bonus and benefits
