Job Description

Dietetic Assistant - Eating DisordersAre you a Dietetic Assistant seeking a challenging, yet rewarding career move Are you interested in a career where you will make a real difference in young people’s lives Do you understand the daily challenges which young people face Maybe a career with Care in Mind is for you…Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old who have been discharged from psychiatric inpatient stays or may have experienced previous admissions and/or placement breakdowns. The young people we care for often require a high level of support and dynamic approach to risk management in order to support problems they may have with self-harming, behaviour and emotional regulation. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic, least restrictive approach to live in a non-secure community setting and to achieve their individual goals in preparation for transition to adult life.We are excited to announce the opening of our new Residential Eating Disorder Service based in Lostock, Bolton, where we are looking for a kind, caring and empathetic Dietetic Assistant to join our professional 5-bed service, supporting young people with complex and challenging eating disorders, where you will work closely with our professional multi-disciplinary team towards keeping them safe and progressing with their recovery.You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, where your role will involve delivering elements of dietetic care as delegated by the Dietician and Clinical Nurse Specialist. This will include implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of nutritional care plans, to support the direct and indirect day to day treatment of young people with eating disorders.Company Benefits- £21,892 - £24,157 per annum (Dependent on experience & qualifications)- 22 days holiday + 8 bank holidays (Rising to 27 days holiday plus bank holidays with service)- Enhanced company pension- Life Assurance (2 x annual salary)- Enhanced maternity/paternity leave- Paid Induction (Running over 3 days)- Free on-site parking- Paid Enhanced DBS check- Access to our 24-hour Wellbeing Support Portal/ Employee Assistance Programme- Online shopping discounts, free eye tests and various other benefits- The opportunity for internal promotions & progression- Refer a Friend Scheme (Up to £500 per referral)- Regular social events and recognition schemes (‘Employee of the year awards’, Summer & Christmas parties)- Access to Learning and Development opportunitiesYour role as a Dietetic Assistant- Under Dietician supervision the post holder will, collect relevant data and information to help support assessment and treatment plans of young people.- To facilitate the young people in achieving and retaining as much independent control over their lives as appropriate working alongside the mental health recovery star.- Line management of Catering staff.- Support the team to implement effective meal supervision and post-meal support.- To present as a positive role model to all staff members and young people- Maintain a strong and effective relationship with the MDT, to work alongside the Deputy Manager to ensure consistency of care is achieved.- Effectively undertake the development and delivery of dietetic groups. i.e., shopping group, cookery group, nutritional psychoeducation- Motivating, guiding, and encouraging young people to comply with advised dietary/care treatment and monitor progress, reporting findings to the MDT.- To communicate relevant nutrition/care information to young people as directed by the Dietitian- To supervise the residential team in the ordering and monitoring of nutritional products under the direction of the supervising Dietitian.- To ensure meticulous record keepingRequirements of a Dietetic Assistant- Foundation Degree/ NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in health or social care or in Dietetics /human nutrition- Experience of working within residential services.- Previous experience of supporting service users with eating disorders- Thorough understanding of Nutrition and well being- Experience of working with Quality Care Commission (CQC) or Ofsted registered services.- The ability to work collaboratively with a wider multi-disciplinary team (both internal and external).- To have a good understanding of Health and Social Care.- Leadership qualities, enthusiasm along with influencing and motivation skills.- Ability to organise own workload effectively and to work independently- A good understanding of the issues young people may face- Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations- An understanding of safeguardingDesirable Criteria- Previous experience of supporting service users with eating disorders- Skills in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff.If you are interested in joining an enthusiastic, motivated business who thrive in developing and rebuilding young people and young adults with complex difficulties then please submit your application by Friday 12th February.Please note that interviews will be held over Microsoft Teams as a video interview.Care in Mind operates a safer recruitment process and as part of this process the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.We are an equal opportunities employer who values diversity and positively encourages applications of all ages from all sections of the community.We reserve the right to close the advert early, should we appoint a suitable candidate.Ref: 96386
