Job Description

Job Title: Accounts AssistantReporting to: Finance ManagerLocation: Bolton (9-5 Office Based)Salary: Up to £26kThis role requires someone to start straight away.Key Purpose of Job* To assist the Purchase Ledger Manager in the provision of an efficient and effective purchase ledger control service ensuring service users are provided with accurate information at all times.* To assist the Purchase Ledger Manager to maintain and input purchase ledger information in a precise and accurate manner.* To assist the Management Accountant for the provision of an efficient and effective finance service.Key Duties* To assist with the management of all purchase ledger accounts.* To be familiar with all suppliers - what their needs are and how they each deal with late payments. * To use email, letters, and telephone to contact suppliers and ensure payment of outstanding invoices. * To assist opening new credit accounts ensuring the company sends all the relevant information to the supplier.* To assist in keeping an accurate record of all communication with the supplier, this is important when there are payment problems and the account becomes legal, these records are needed for court proceedings. * To assist in resolving all problems within the company in relation to purchase ledger control, copy invoices, proof of delivery, credit notes, and liaise internally to progress any problems that are being handled in any other department. * To report to management on outstanding issues and inform them early of potential payment problems. * To assist in the preparation of timely and reliable management accounts information on a monthly basis.* Assist and deal with any incoming telephone calls.* To assist with filing of all records accurately ensuring ease of access.Other Duties* Provide support in terms of holiday and sickness cover to produce accurate weekly operations results for the group management team.* To provide support in terms of holiday and sickness cover for month end to ensure accurate management accounts are produced for each period end.* To undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job.Health and Safety ResponsibilitiesAll employees will ensure that they;* Take care of their own safety and that of others.* Ensure that products, plant, equipment, vehicles and buildings are not damaged.* Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.* Will not neglect, misuse, damage anything provided in the interest of health and safety.* Assist by reporting to their Line Manager any hazard, accident, damage or defect in order that remedial action may be undertaken.* Undergo any training or instruction to enable them to work competently and safely.Other Information* All staff must commit to Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discriminatory Practice.* The Company operates a Smoke-Free Policy, and the post-holder is prohibited from smoking in any of the Companys buildings (including Company owned and Company leased buildings, but excluding designated areas in residential schemes), enclosed spaces withinthe curtilage of buildings, and Company vehicles.
