Do you want to work within and lead a supportive team which puts the patient and the staff at the heart of everything we do Are you committed to improving patient care through knowledge, skills, leadership, compassiona and empathy Then working within the Medicine for Older People Directorate will support you to be the best you can be.Ward C9 is a 22 bedded acute medical ward primarily for older patients, presenting with multiple medical conditions. .The ward prides itself on the holistic care provided to patients, the empathic way in which relatives are treated, and the safe and effective discharge planning put in place for all patients once deemed medically optimised.As the band 7, you will liaise closely with and be supported by a network of Matrons, to enable you to develop yourself, your team and the service that you will lead and ensure that the values of the ward and those of the Trust are upheld on the ward.As the ward manager you would be responsible for the day to day running of the ward. This involves taking responsibility for the safe staffing of the ward, done in part by ensuring that the Eroster is always reflective of the ward situation; managing the budget; managing sickness and absence, and coaching and developing junior staff.As the Ward Manager you will be valued and supported to deliver safe, personal and effective care to all of our patients. You will be expected to deliver on key performance indicatoors, including NAPF assessments, safety huddles, effective discharge planning, monitoring of quality and safety via audits, appraisals; whilst providing leadership to the team to provide this in your absence.The ward is extremely busy, but is calm well organised, and receptive to ongoing development.
