Job Description

Here at Graham & Brown, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Maintenance Joiner and Builder based at our India Mill site in Blackburn. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 45 hours per week (7am - 4pm, MondayFriday). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,589 - £30,737per annum, plus benefits.Graham & Brown has had design and colour at the heart of our business for over 75 years. As our Maintenance Joiner and Builder, you will maintain all the buildings across 3 sites to the highest standards adhering to all relevant building legislation and completing any off-site jobs as required.You will work alongside a small building maintenance team to maintain and improve the Graham & Brown sites, these works will cover items from minor office refurbs, exterior maintenance and large CapEx based projects where you will be required to work alongsidevarious contractors and tradesmen to complete to a high standard.As our Maintenance Joiner and Builder, you will:
  • Be held accountable for the standard of your workmanship and the time at which the works are completed
  • Ensure the correct use/storage of company plant, tools and equipment
  • Assess, plan, measure up and order, through management, all materials required for works
  • Report directly to Building Maintenance & Projects Manager
  • Work effectively within a buildings maintenance team
  • Be required on larger projects to work alongside various contractors and tradesmen to complete to a high standard
  • Ensure that work is completed effectively including efficient use of time and materials
What we are looking for in our Maintenance Joiner and Builder:
  • A full UK driving licence, to cover the 3 UK G&B sites
  • Basic working knowledge of IT systems and packages
  • Time served Joiner, to a minimum NVQ LVL 3 or equivalent
  • Experience using access equipment (Towers MEWPs etc)
  • Proven experience preferably in the form of a portfolio
  • The ability to interpret specifications from drawings set out by your manager and the Graham & Brown design teams
  • The ability to carry out works from concept to completion
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety from an operatives level
  • Excellent working knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry
  • An adequate level of experience and proficiency in the role
  • The ability to undertake jobs that are both unique and vary from day to day
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry
