Job Description

An opportunity has arisen in an expanding law practice in Blackburn for an experienced Debt recovery handler/ solicitor who is looking to expand their knowledge and progress their career.

  • This role will be office based in Blackburn.
  • The role will predominantly involve handling a portfolio of debt recovery claims from the point of instruction through to settlement, so a good understanding of the debt recovery process is essential for this role together with a good knowledge of applicablecase law and the relevant civil procedure rules. In this role you will work within the debt recovery team, you will be taking over an existing caseload. Your primary focus will be to provide clear and balanced advice on all aspects of debt recovery. You willrun a mixed case load, drafting and issuing court proceedings.
We are keen to recruit a Debt recovery handler with experience in enforcement. The ideal candidate will have gained experience working for debt recovery organisation or similar and have the following skills:
  • Minimum of one years debt recovery experience
  • Good working knowledge of the enforcement procedure including winding up and bankruptcy petitions
  • Litigation experience is desired but not essential
  • Experience of the Money Claims Online system is preferred, but not essential
  • Ability to work on their own initiative
  • Ability to work well under the sometime pressurised environment
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Good communication skills across all levels

  • Ability to guide and advise colleagues and clients, including their prospects of success or the achievement of aims.
  • Sound negotiation skills.
  • Competent research and review skills to interpret information and present your findings.
  • Good drafting skills to write legal documents including bespoke drafting on complex or specialist matters.
  • Ability to solve problems and to provide advice on reputation al, political, financial and corporate risks.
  • Trust in your own initiative and take a pro-active approach in work.
  • Effective advocacy skills and the ability to present cases in a clear and concise manner.
  • Sound organisational skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to have a flexible and adaptable approach.
