Job Description

Reporting to the Site Planning & Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer has full purchasing accountability for a given portfolio of suppliers or products. Own main store management.The Buyer will contribute to the Planning and Supply Chain departmental objectives in supplier performance, cost reductions/ cost avoidance, process improvement, etcClient DetailsIve partnered with an excellent manufacturing business which specialise in precision engineering, based near Blackburn.DescriptionThe Buyer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the purchasing of a given portfolio of suppliers or products, including on time and correctly generate and place purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers, resolve purchase order discrepancies, validate supplier delivery plan, track orders.And deliveries Make cost effective purchases and ensure inventory and/or services is maintained at the approved/required level for effective company operation.
  • Also accountable for on timer processing purchasing requisitions from the internal customers and turning those requisitions into purchase orders following the relevant standard operation procedures.
  • For the given portfolio of suppliers or products, accountable for on-time updating and maintaining data and record in the ERP system regarding the suppliers, product/service prices, order fulfilment standard leadtime and order details (e.g. dates, suppliers,quantities, supplier committed delivery dates and quantity).
  • Responsible for the delivery, quality & cost performance of the allocated suppliers, as well as the supplier compliance with requirements. Responsible in tracking order status, manage supplier delivery priorities and ensure timely delivery. Follow up withsuppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders or to expedite or push out deliveries, or on any quality or price enquiries.
  • Responsible to proactively update the internal key stakeholders with timely accurate status on orders and delivery status, supplier delivery plan, supplier performance or any issue or challenges at the suppliers.
  • Responsible in engaging with external supplier and internal cross functional teams, especially the rest of the Planning and Supply Chain team and Ops, to fully understand customer demand and production plans, fully cascading the projected demand to supplybase and working with the suppliers to review its capacity and lines of balance (LOB) to support the demand.
  • Responsible in maintaining strong working relationships with the suppliers and routing daily/weekly/monthly review with the assigned suppliers on orders, stock, projected demand and capacity review. Assist Planning and Supply Chain Manager in the supplierbusiness and performance review. 2
  • Conduct or support review, discussions and meetings in a timely, professional and informed manner. Ensure on time submission of reports and requested info or data.
  • Manage Return to Vendor parts ensuring these are sent back to suppliers in good time and credits are received.
  • Own Altham main store management. Ensure store KPIs are achieved.
  • Ensure full management of consignment stocks.
  • Assist with invoicing queries, price corrections and updates.
  • Accountable for the appointed cost reductions/ cost avoidance, supplier management, planning & supply chain improvement projects or initiatives.
  • Must comply with registered policies & procedures, government regulations and industrial standards especially those related to Planning & Supply Chain.
  • Assist with RFQ, sourcing, planning or NPIs if needed. Assist with logistics when needed.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as assigned to support the business needs
ProfileThe successful candidate for the Buyer role will ideally have the following key skills & qualities:
  • Degree qualified or relevant professional certification or substantial relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and a proven track record in purchasing, supplier and supply chain management, and store management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a proven track records and experience in driving & measuring suppliers to meet KPI targets.
  • Must have good working knowledge and hands on experience in using ERP systems.
  • CIPS or studying towards would be a nice to have
  • Must be able to use ERP system.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and management within manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of production and order fulfilment process and inventory management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good numerical reasoning skills.
