Job Description

ROLE- BuyerLOCATION- Bishops StortfordTERM- PermanentSALARY- £30,000- £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)My client design and manufacture mechanical equipment for a whole host of sectors as well as housing a mixture of CNC milling and turning machine tools.They are looking to take on an experienced Engineering Buyer, on a permanent basis, in Bishops Stortford.The Senior Engineering Buyer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Formal qualification Engineering (HNC/ HND/ Degree) or have the equivalent work experience with transferable skills
  • Good experience in purchasing both mechanical and electro-mechanical components for a highly regulated industry i.e. automotive, medical, aerospace, food
  • Proficiency with using ERP systems
  • Being able to read from Engineering drawings
  • Previous experience of delivering cost savings and also the lead time reduction
  • Experienced working with different manufacturing techniques within a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
The Senior Engineering Buyer role will involve:
  • Taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the delivery of materials and components
  • Ensuring quality, on time delivery and cost performance
  • Adding value to the business by driving the cost savings
  • Being responsible for supplier performance development and the procurement of materials against specifications
  • Managing key suppliers
  • Being involved in the selection of suppliers and then the ongoing approval and relationship management
