Job Description

Fabrication / WelderLocation: BirminghamHours: MondayFriday This may include Earlies, Lates or day shift as required, to be discussed at interview.Salary: Competitive + Over time (when required)Starting ASAPOur client is a well-established and expanding manufacturing company based in Birmingham and due to their current projected growth, they are now looking to recruit for the position of Fabrication / Welder. The successful applicant will be based at theirproduction facility in Birmingham city centre.The RoleReporting to the Production Manager as part of the Fabrication / Welder team, your responsibilities will be preparation and welding of mild steel, Aluminium, Stainless steel, thicknesses of material will range from 1mm - 10mm.Your duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Fabrication of Mild steel, Stainless-steel & Aluminium components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances, in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using sound trade methods.
  • Must hold the following accreditations, BS EN ISO 15614 -1 & BS EN ISO 15614. - 2 and approved to weld Butt, Fillet and plug.
  • Weld components and framework using a TIG & MIG welding processes.
  • Position align and fit parts according to specifications.
  • Grind, sand, polish and detail fabrications to required finish using hand and power tools to a high standard.
  • Measure and examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications.
  • All Fabrications tasks are to be completed in the agreed (quoted) time frames or better.
  • Operation of manual machine tools, as part of the fabrication process when required.
  • Machines to be kept in a tidy and well-maintained manner, which would require maintenance be undertaken from time to time.
  • Ensure that the supply of consumables, i.e. gas, welding wire etc. does not run which could affect the job.
  • Work with the Manager to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Display flexibility to work in other departments and overtime as necessary to assist the company in meeting production goals.
  • Liaise with design team and give input into new designs.
  • Complete administrative tasks as required.
  • Work from drawing without supervision.
  • Report drawing errors.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Industrial Fabrication.
  • Significant Industry exposure.
  • BS EN ISO 15614 -1 & BS EN ISO 15614. - 2 accreditation (in date)
  • Knowledge of metal finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, weld procedures and work instructions.
  • Ability to recognise welding symbols and specifications.
  • Be customer and results focused, have integrity, and be a proven team-player.

  • 25 Days holiday; a combination of floating days and compulsory factory shutdown over Christmas period.
