We are looking six new team members to join our highly successful core Data Insights team. You will help us deliver intelligence about our transport system that can support better outcomes for the people, businesses and fantastic place that is the West Midlands.Who we areTransport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all. It is the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority.A standard setter in the industry, our achievements are regularly recognised nationally, most importantly as the winner of City Region Authority of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the National Transport Awards.Whether its developing and delivering new infrastructure, collaborating on future mobility projects, operating the West Midlands Metro or helping customers to keep moving, we need creative and innovative talent to join our already excellent team and help us make a real difference to residents, businesses and visitors travelling in and around the West Midlands.About the teamThis is an exciting time for the West Midlands - with Coventrys City of Culture in 2021, the Commonwealth Games here in 2022, and the arrival of HS2 which will help make us a world class business location. All supported by a massive local programme of bus rapid transit, highway improvements, bike hire, new metro lines and new local rail stations. Together we are forging new standards and new solutions for urban living and enabling social and economic growth. We are at the epi-centre of much of the UKs research and are piloting new mobility services and data driven systems. We have a globally unique and massive programme of innovation and data science. This is driving a revolution in our transport system and enabling the delivery of an unprecedented scale of infrastructure investment. We deliver insight and analytics built on real-time data.This makes for a uniquely challenging and evolving environment. You do not have to be a transport expert to join us, but you do need to have an innovative and can-do mind set and be determined to explore new possibilities.We are seeking new colleagues to join our dynamic, growing and highly agile team in our Policy, Strategy and Innovation Department of Transport for West Midlands. We have six newly established full time and permanent posts:Who we needAs a senior GIS developer, you will work within our Data Insight team to apply your experience in geospatial data management technologies like PostGIS and proprietary solutions utilising the ESRI technology stack. Working with our cloud hosted AWS solutions you will be at the cutting edge of technology. You will develop web and mobile applications, provide professional services to our client base and you will engage customers with your interactive visualisations.
