Job Description

Tutor Tutor to support young people with SENPart time 22.5 hours per week - 12-month contract Working Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9am to 5pm Working at one location in either Birmingham B4 or Northfield B31 or Chelmsley Wood B37, however must be flexible to travel to any of these centres when needed to work still part time from that location to cover part time for holidays and sickness cover.The organisation offers a rewarding role, where you can make a positive impact on the lives of young people for people with learning and physical disabilities.Do you have a genuine passion of changing lives for young people aged 16 to 24 and supporting their transition into workDo you believe in inclusion in the workplace and to be a positive role model for learnersWe are a brave organisation to encourage learners to try new things and step put of their comfort zone, brave when faced with challenges, so seeking someone with a passion to help with this.We are positive and celebrate how unique each learner is, so you will positively approach their journey to employment.We are kind to everyone, so seeking someone to be kind, supportive and encouraging to everyone you interact with.Tutor:

  • Design and deliver creative lessons to form the education element of an employability programme to a diverse group of people with a learning disability.
  • Working closely with the learners you will develop learning that supports people to overcome barriers they face to securing paid employment.
  • Work closely with the quality team to develop a robust curriculum and implement schemes of work to suit the needs of the learners you are responsible for including embedding English and maths.
  • Develop positive relationships and families with the aim of ensuring successful outcomes for the people we support.
  • Record keeping
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Supporting people in a classroom and workplace setting
  • Managing a caseload
  • Full understanding of Ofsted and education inspection framework
  • Assessing learners progress, identifying areas for development
  • Lessons delivered online.
  • Visiting learners at the centre or in the workplace
  • Dealing with a diverse group of learners, so a flexible/adaptable attitude and approach to teaching is required.
Essential for a Tutor:
  • Able to commit to a 12-month contract (could lead to permanent)
  • Teaching qualifications such as DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd or similar
  • Experience professionally or personally with a learning disability
Tutor Salary and Benefits
  • Starting Salary: £27,061to £33,293 dependent on qualification and experience pro rata
  • 24 days holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with long service plus the ability to buy up to another 10 days via our Holiday Plus scheme.
