Job Description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager who is looking to join an established distribution company- specialising in palletised freights. With over 20 years of experience, this company operates a diverse range of vehicles for a well-maintainedand loyal customer base.They are now looking for a Transport Manager to continue to not only support this growth but to ensure the company is in line with company and statutory procedures and legislation.Job Duties as their TM

  • Ensures Health and Safety, Environmental and Operators Licence compliance, whilst delivering best in class customer service, measured against business KPIs for Safety, Service and Profitability.
  • Oversea the transport team - the first point of contact for driver and transport team management. Lead and mentor the team to ensure they are engaged and motivated.
  • Understands and leverages the companys operating systems and communication devices, ensuring that all reporting staff are using the systems and devices correctly and in full, to the benefit of the operation.
  • As team manager oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, increasing margin whilst meeting budget as a minimum.
  • Understands and appreciates customer requirements and quality standards. Engages with internal and external customers to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Is the escalation point and authority for commercial vehicle and other vehicle maintenance and transport compliance.
  • Understands and meets the companys Operating Licence obligations ensuring that appropriate controls and procedures are rigorously enforced.
  • Oversees vehicle management, including liaison with fleet, safe vehicle operations, wheel security, monitors vehicle gross weights.
  • Works closely with the warehouse team and other key stakeholders to ensure that all logistics solutions are fully integrated and designed to improve customer service.
  • Maintain flexible working hours to ensure smooth running of a 24 hour operation
  • Proactively manage risk compliance with all company policies including Health & Safety as well as operating within legal and regulatory requirements such as the Working Time
Directive, Road Traffic Acts and vehicle safety. Take immediate and appropriate action when requiredTo be successful in this role we would like to talk to you:
  • If you have worked as a Transport Manager in a fast-paced environment
  • Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (compulsory)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, logical mindset, and target driven.
  • Good and keen understanding and
  • A positive outlook to ensure the continued growth and success of the department
  • Experience of managing a team - to include holiday planning, absence management (in line with the Company Absence Management Procedure) return to work interviews day-to-day performance issues.
