Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading Planning & Design Consultancy in Birmingham on the hire of a Town Planner or Senior Planner. The office is based in the heart of the city and has easy access to public transport, including beinga short walk from New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill Stations.The busy and successful Birmingham Office is made up of a large Town Planning team alongside other Planners and design professionals and boasts a friendly atmosphere. You will join a supportive team environment with exciting career opportunities, have clientexposure, enjoy outstanding professional development, and gain exposure to an innovative and exciting inter-disciplinary environment!In this role, you will work on a broad range of planning projects, using your local knowledge to plan and deliver projects of all types and scales. The current team provides invaluable advice to their clients and projects range from residential, mixed-use,commercial and employment through Development Plan promotion and planning applications and appeals.Duties

  • Promoting large to medium-scale residential, mixed-use, employment and other developments (both brownfield and greenfield) through the Local Development Framework and then by coordinating subsequent planning applications
  • Conducting research and site appraisals on projects for our client base
  • Preparation, submission, and negotiation of planning applications of all sizes/types.
  • Preparation of planning and Statements of Community Engagement
  • Lodging appeals and potentially appearing at Informal Hearings
  • Developing client relationships as part of our team
  • Co-ordination of internal and external project teams and project management/QA
Requirements to apply
  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards this)
  • Hold strong planning experience, including residential and employment
  • Hold experience in consultancy or a similar commercial environment
  • Hold strong project management skills
  • Have an interest and track record in business development.
  • Are committed to and have an eye for detail
  • Can work with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use their own initiative
  • Have a strong team working capability
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car
