Job Description

Closing Date - 27/05/2021Birmingham 2022 are looking for two Technology Project Managers to deliver and coordinate key technology projects and to support the central Technology Programme Management team on cross-functional activities. Using a cohesive and efficient approach to managing tasks, collating information, and meeting deadlines across the TEC Department, the successful candidates will build strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels of seniority and manage multiple workstreams. The team are looking for someone with project or programme management experience, ideally within a Technology setting or on projects that involve multiple deliverables and stakeholders. You will also be confident in using MS Excel and possess strong knowledge of effective project controls and governance processes and procedures.Responsibilities

  • Build strong working relationships with all colleagues and develop effective working relationships with other key functional areas
  • Manage multiple streams of work at any one time, communicating with multiple stakeholders and juggling deadlines and priorities
  • Act as the point of liaison between the Technology and the wider OC when required, displaying confidence in communicating with senior colleagues across the business
  • Project manage key integrated planning initiatives
  • Manage the key contractor workforce requirements across a diverse group of TEC partners and suppliers (for example Games Time accommodation, transportation, and accreditation requirements)
  • Proactively manage the Project Plans, in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Support the proactive management of risks and issues across the TEC programme, ensuring key items are escalated in a timely manner.
  • Support the Programme and Readiness Manager with the internal and external reporting requirements of the TEC Department
  • Support Readiness planning, testing and rehearsals
    • Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
  • Previous experience of working in a project/programme management capacity within Technology, the event sector, or on projects that involve multiple deliverables and stakeholders.
  • Passionate about the delivery of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of effective project controls and governance processes and procedures.
  • Skilled in the use of information technology including MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to influence others and manage relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders of different seniority levels
  • Confident project management skills
  • High level of organisational skills with experience in managing demanding projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
    • Desirable
  • Experience with Major Sporting Events in a similar role
  • Formal project management certification
  • Experience using advanced MS Excel skills and formulas
  • Skilled at using Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with multi-sports events; or more broadly with sports, entertainment and hospitality operations
  • An understanding of technology services within an event setting
  • Knowledge of ICT or Telecommunications delivery
  • Experience of Technology software testing and integrated testing
  • An understanding of technology services within an event setting
