Our aim is to make the West Midlands fairer, greener, and healthier and this includes delivering the climate change strategy where we are working across a wide range of activity to take the region to net-zero carbon emissions by 2041. As our SMART Hub lead delivering domestic retrofit solutions, you will shape and deliver a funded SMART Hub work programme, with cross organisational and local authority support, to deliver carbon savings from domestic retrofit as part of the #WM2041 Five Year Plan.Youll be responsible for securing retrofit funding from national sources into the West Midlands, working in partnership with all West Midlands Local Authorities and the Midlands Energy Hub, and develop the business case for long term domestic retrofit investment, building on existing evidence and stimulating innovation where it is needed to address market challenges.This role will be based within the West Midlands Combined Authoritys Energy Capital Team - the team tasked with delivering the Regional Energy Strategy and securing the powers and resources necessary to deliver it effectively - and will work across directorates and departments to contribute to the net-zero transition through action on domestic retrofit.This role is being offered on a two-year fixed-term contract.About youWere looking for someone who really does want to make a difference to climate change and carbon reduction. Someone who is as passionate about the West Midlands as we are. Youll need operational experience in building physics or the domestic retrofit sector together with an understanding of policy, legislation, and compliance requirements for domestic energy management, including Standard Assessment Procedure, Energy Performance Certificates, the Energy Company Obligation, and PAS2035/PAS2030.Youll be responsible for disseminating information to improve stakeholders understanding of relevant policy and regulations and build strong relationships with both constituent and non-constituent local authorities and social landlords across the West MidlandsYoull work across a wide range of stakeholders, including constituent and non-constituent local authorities and social landlords, to improve understanding of relevant policy and regulations to ensure maximum learning and collaboration, and therefore excellent interpersonal, collaboration and engagement skills, and experience of working across all levels of an organisation, are needed.
