An exciting new opportunity has arisen working for a Birmingham based insurer as a Commercial Insurance Senior Trading Underwriter.They offer a different perspective on commercial insurance; designing their processes around the brokers needs, whilst at the same time delivering financial security and stability to policyholders.As a Senior Trading Underwriter, the main focus will be retaining profitable commercial risks within your own allocated accounts, and work very closely within your intermediary panel. It is essential that you have the right attitude/pro active approach, where you will be targeted on retaining your own accounts and therefore required to maximise all business opportunities presented to you. Although this role is an internal position, there will be the need to attend regular broker’s visits on a frequent basis discussing key accounts or ones that are under attack from third party brokers.Initially this will be to look after a existing book of business however going forward there could be the need to also focus on new business submissions.Two of the key main aspects of this role are to be technically competent and have experience/knowledge on property/casualty and commercial combined risk (contractors would be an advantageous, and also as important is to have the ability to trade effectively with the brokers you’d work with, be able to think outside of the box, and to make sure each case is retained and renewed where all parties are satisfied with the end result.To apply for this position, you will need to have been involved in an underwriting role previously and ideally have a minimum of 4 to 5 years plus commercial underwriting experience.
