Here at National Highways we are striving for excellence so if youre looking for a new opportunity to be part of a high performing team within a progressive organisation please see below!Your new roleThe role of Senior Service Designer sits within Architecture, Design and Technology services and forms part of our capability to support the creation of sustainable whole services, that deliver the right experiences for our colleagues and customers acrossour business and operational services.As a Senior Service Designer, you will be responsible for leading a range of design projects to provide and assure service designs which are not limited to just the IT part, as well identifying, and building our own groups capabilities, service offeringsthat enable to set the direction for the design of services.The role will form part of our new partnering services function, working with our digital service business partners.What youll be leading on

  • Lead on the production of whole service design products for the benefit of one or more business areas, ensuring designs are safe, sustainable, and aligned with out digital, data and technology strategy.
  • Responsible for assuring design artefacts produced by other group members and third-party suppliers. Acting as design assurance for projects, especially during the transition phase.
  • Manage engagement with colleagues and other stakeholders to undertake the development of people centric end to end processes, operational regimes, and organisational design. Enabling new ways of working that are aligned with industry best practise and COTStool sets best able to support service delivery.
  • Take responsibility for the identification of opportunities to set new/update current strategic direction artefacts to ensure services are delivered successfully.
  • Own the development and road mapping of a variety of group design services and/or capability areas, setting their direction and supporting your peers in their adoption. You will take the initiative to market our services across our organisation.
  • Develop our understanding, definition, and measurement of colleague experience, supporting the adoption of experience management to provide better, people focussed services.
To be successful
  • Must be suitably experienced in the design of services, using design patterns and toolkits and leading others in their use.
  • Must have skills in supporting both agile and waterfall project teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills, partnering with and influencing senior colleagues and customers. You know how to manage stakeholder expectations. You can be flexible, and you are capable of proactive and reactive communication.
  • Proficient in process design and redesign.
  • User focus - You can champion user research to focus on all users. You can prioritise and define approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so. You can offer recommendations on the best tools and methods to be used and guide othersin their use.
