Senior Officer - IntelligenceBirmingham, West Midlands (with hybrid working)About UsSet up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.We are currently looking for a Senior Officer - Intelligence to join our team in Birmingham where you will be responsible for recording and analysing intelligence, identifying risk and escalating issues which contribute to raising regulatory standards, protectingconsumers from gambling harm and keeping crime out of gambling. You will ensure dissemination of intelligence and personal data is conducted inline with National intelligence Model and GDPR requirements.Your role will also involve:- Attending and providing briefings to internal and external stakeholders, promoting sharing of information and intelligence which facilitates collaborative working.- Demonstrating a highly motivated and proactive approach which leads to the development of valuable intelligence products capable of informing and driving the Intelligence Team and wider Commissions priorities.- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, key law enforcement and regulatory partners, establishing, and exploiting information and intelligence sharing gateways, both domestic and international.- Working closely with the analytical workstream to ensure a cohesive workflow for intelligence development.- Responding to tasks from other parts of the business to support priority projects or casework delivery. This could involve directing sanctions research to prevent criminal or terrorist finances from entering the licensed market or liaising with our EnforcementTeam to provide recommendations on joint initiatives to tackle online illegal gambling websites.About You- Fully conversant with the National Intelligence Model and the legal frameworks for investigations including RIPA, DPA, GDPR and FOI, etc.- Proven analytical skills with ability to summarise and communicate complex information and identify key points. Escalating as appropriate with minimal supervision.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.- Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the Commission.- Attend and provide briefings to internal and external stakeholders, promoting sharing of information and intelligence which facilitates collaborative working.- You will demonstrate effective planning and organisation skills with the ability to recognise and manage priorities.Previous experience of working in a regulatory environment would be desirable.The closing date for this role is 15th January 2023.PLEASE NOTE: incomplete applications will be discounted from short-listing.
