Job Description

Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client with one of the largest teams of chartered surveyors in the property sector, located in regional offices across the UK, they have a depth and breadth of experience, expertise and local knowledge to support theirclients at every stage of property investment, ownership and occupation from acquisition to disposal.They work with a wide range of clients to manage their property portfolios, projects and transactions and due to their continuing success; they are now looking for a talented Senior Managing Building Surveyor to join and help develop their growing team inBirmingham, Solihull.Their projects include Education, industrial and commercial schemes with contract values upto around £5 million working for interesting clients including motor manufacturers, aerospace manufacturers, Schools / Universities, contractors and developers etc.Role and ResponsibilitiesManagement

  • To assist / manage and develop the Building Surveying team with new service streams / sector experience
  • To lead teams, projects & programmes for complex multi-disciplinary schemes in both the Public & Private sector.
  • Undertake and managing teams to carry out condition, technical due diligence, and feasibility building surveys; taking particulars on site, prepare specifications, obtaining estimates / tenders, planning maintenance programmes and administering contractsfor maintenance and project work
Technical
  • Analyse and report on complex building defects
  • Handling claims and negotiations with loss adjusters and insurers
  • Prepare schedules of dilapidations and negotiate settlements
  • Provide advice and in connection with planning applications, appeals, boundary disputes, government grants, and acting where required as an expert witness
  • Supervision of building work on site
  • Provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of properties
  • Advising clients on designing buildings to conform with the latest building regulations and technical standards
Experience and Skills Required
  • MRICS Chartered preferred
  • Commercially focused, experience of preparing and submitting fee proposals / tenders, and growing client business
  • Leading and managing teams on complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Preferably some proven project and programme management experience
  • Asset management experience
  • Private and public sector experience
  • Aspiration to develop and manage your own team
  • Proven business development skills
  • AutoCAD / REVIT / NBS
The role will require you to be a key point of contact with our prestigious clients, therefore a high level of communication skills and commercial awareness are essential for being successful in this role.You will be of an analytical mind and high level of intellect - combining excellent written and oral skills to produce considered and robust reports and recommendations.You will be a key player in assisting the team to developing existing and new streams of business and further reinforce the team skills.
