Job Description

Youll be joining the finance team supporting the Supply Chain Operations function. Supply Chain Operations (SCO) deliver the logistics, materials and components to the organisation.Client DetailsMy client is a large public sector organisation with revenues of over £7 billionDescription

  • This role provides senior finance support to the SCO teams who manage inventory via our network of nine regional distribution centres.
  • The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SCO head of financial control and analysis and will be supported by their own direct report team, which comprises two inventory finance business partners.
  • Consolidate, critically review and provide technical advice and guidance on inventory accounting and governance to identify and monitor risks, opportunities and efficiencies to minimise the financial and legal impact on the business area.
  • Provide robust professional recommendations and financial guidance on inventory accounting guidelines and standards to enable the business to be financially and legally compliant.
  • Provide technical and professional oversight of the periodic accounts, relevant analysis and preparation of periodic reporting to enable the business to effectively manage inventory holdings.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement improvements to improve IT systems used to manage inventory, including Oracle, FAMS and NROL.
  • Influence, coach and challenge senior budget holders in understanding the impact of their inventory management practices and decisions in order to manage their business more effectively, manage overall inventory holdings, save costs and be more efficientas an organisation.
  • Provide professional financial advice and guidance on inventory financial performance, leading in key budget holder meetings, to drive business decisions, minimise risk and deliver good corporate governance.
  • Develop, drive and implement investment decisions and new business activities, working collaboratively with senior leaders to explore new opportunities and drive business performance.
Profile
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels. This should include Customers; 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.
  • Successful relevant experience working in a complex financial environment including demonstrable experience in managing business risks, professional financial control and forward planning.
  • Demonstrable record of inventory management, governance and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes.
  • Significant experience in managing ambiguity in a financial environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of technical inventory accounting and application of that knowledge in a complex and commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory accounting packages and systemic interfaces as integrated components of end to end supply chain accounting
