Job Description

Due to continued growth within the Amey Rail business, we are building a work winning team to develop and deliver an exciting and ambitious strategy for the next 5 years, which will see the Rail business grow significantly. With a strong pipeline of futureopportunities, underpinned by a strong existing order book, we are looking to recruit a high performing team of Estimators to deliver this growth.As Senior Estimator you will develop and enhance your career working on a range of key rail projects, including HS2 and Network Rail nationally, and gain unique experience within a supportive and engaging culture. You will be given the freedom to performand the opportunity to shape the team and be an integral part of Ameys future success.With your key experience in Rail Systems you will have experience of producing multi-disciplined, high value, high quality tender submissions.The role can be undertaken remotely with some ad hoc travel to Oxford/Birmingham.Duties

  • Assist with Approvals process to ensure that all bids have the necessary approvals in accordance with company procedures
  • Prepare detailed analytical tenders and estimates from first principles within defined timescales
  • Ensure that estimating procedures are followed in the production of tenders.
  • Liaise with other members of the Estimating and Operational teams to deliver high quality estimates and tender submissions
  • Maintain and update records of tenders, including change control
  • Prepare a comprehensive briefing pack for the Operational Project Teams on all successful tenders
  • Ensure all tenders are reviewed to identify lessons learned
  • Participate in the detailed risk assessment process on all bids
  • Ensure all tenders are fully reviewed by the Senior Manager/Director with appropriate financial authority
  • Develop a library of outputs and pricing data
  • Record time spent on each tender using the bidding time recording system
  • Assist in the production of bids in all Business Units when necessary
  • Support operational projects when required
  • Be able to communicate programme and risk related issues to the bid planner
  • Have the ability to communicate complicated financial and contractual issues to senior management
  • Generation of hand over packs and facilitate handover to Operations team
Experience/Skills
  • In depth knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts
  • In depth Knowledge of the Network Rail Suite of Contracts
  • Experience of NR Frameworks
  • Experience of multi discipline rail systems (major) bids
  • Be able to communicate programme and risk related issues to the bid planner.
  • Have knowledge of Customer standard forms of contract and their interaction with other standard forms
  • Commercially aware and highly numerate
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of proprietary estimating systems is a distinct advantage although Training in Candy (Estimating Software) will be provided
  • Have the ability to communicate complicated financial and contractual issues to senior management
  • Have experience of producing multi-disciplined high value, high quality tender submissions
  • Have a Technical background in a relevant discipline
