Job Description

The Senior ER Advisor works in the ER Centre of Excellence, providing Employee Relations support for both corporate employees and the temporary workforce. This role is responsible for advising managers and stakeholders in relation to a range of ER processesand procedures and for managing a caseload of complex cases including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations and sickness absence processes. The Senior ER Advisor may also lead on TUPE transfers or the transition of agency workers, and may provide trainingregarding ER processes to managers.   • Provide expert ER advice on issues such as: absence, grievances, disciplinary, appeals, absence, health issues, discrimination, harassment.
  • Manage complex and/or long-term sickness cases up to and including capability dismissals.
  • Set up occupational health reviews and for own casework.
  • Manage escalated cases through ACAS and negotiate conciliation.
  • Manage Subject Access Requests for agency workers and corporate employees within the legal guidelines.
  • Support tribunal cases in conjunction with legal provider and the Head of People Operations.
  • Manage, track and document ER cases, providing. ongoing, timely advice and guidance to the business to ensure cases conclude without delay.
  • Ensure management of people issues is consistent with Company values and behaviours.
  • Manage and track absence costs for temporary workers.
  • Deliver training programmes, in partnership with L&D to manage upskill managers in employment legislation for temporary workers and the management of ER issues.
  • Coach operations employees in effective ER case management.
  • Provide end to end technical support on TUPE, Agency Workers transfers and lead on mobilisations and implementations in relation to TUPE and the transition of workers and employees.
  • Undertake central People projects to support the development of the business.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders within region to establish effective working relationship built on trust and credibility.
  • Contribute to monthly report on trends and costs across all ER cases including Employment Tribunals.
  • Maintenance of ER records.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and ability to apply a pragmatic rather than textbook approach.
  • Ability to understand the business and balance commercial needs with assessed risk.
  • Previous experience of training ER processes is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of providing technical and practical support to managers of all levels.
  • Ability to managing problems by identifying cause and effect and proposing solutions.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • TUPE experience is strongly preferred.
