Job Description

Role SummaryMy client has just migrated its Business Units to SAP. An opportunity exists for a Finance & Systems Expert who can help the organisation maximise the potential of SAP for its BUs, as well as increase the knowledge of SAP amongst its key users, and thewider user group population.Although this role is systems focused, to be successful, there has to be strong interest in how the systems could be best applied in a business and finance context.They are required to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key operational staff and will possess strong organisational, systems and process skills, as well as being able to work on their own initiative within a fast-paced environment.Key Objectives

• Within a business context, ensure the core model functionalities of SAP are understood and correctly adopted by the Business Units
• Develop a plan to identify the additional functionalities available in SAP that would help optimise business operations and then deliver that plan.
• Help the Business Units in the organisation to further Automate/Digitise processes.
• Increase the knowledge and awareness of SAP within the organisation.

Responsibilities and AccountabilitysERP Consolidation

• Undertake an assessment of how core model functionalities of my client organisation is being used in the Business Units. eg configuration of the system that meet the BUs needs, ensure the correct mapping of GL codes that would aid correct analysis,check authorisations level, validation work-flows match our internal control rules.
• Understand the business needs of BUs in order to suggest reports and functionalities that already exist in SAP that they could use to meet these needs.
• As part of the above this may involve identifying business processes that are to be re-engineered.

ERP Development/Digitisation/Automation

• Identify those BUs that could adopt SAP functionalities that were not initiated during the initial migration eg Timesheets, expenses etc
• Assess, and then if decided, implement enhanced SAP functionalities in BUs eg RRB, Small projects, equipment module.
• Onboard all new business acquired in acquisitions on to the new and existing automation and digitisation topics such as ePDF, automated vendor and customer validation, FS2.
• Based on the above devise an 18 month roll out plan of the initiatives identified and then realise that plan.

Increasing Awareness/Knowledge Transfer

• Help to organise/facilitate and if applicable deliver the further training required to improve the adoption and use of SAP amongst users.
• Raise awareness of the training collateral that is already available for SAP and where applicable create/improve training collateral that may be needed that is specific to the Pole.
• Establish, run and develop a key user group forum that fosters the sharing of knowledge, tips and tricks
• Coach/train/mentor the next Pole Business Expert

Business Expert

• Be the first point of contact for any system queries from the BUs with respect to the ERP System
• Be the point of contact for the division and VESI about all ERP /Digitisation topics, participate to International Business Experts meetings, user clubs.
• Monitor and follow-up any configuration or reconfiguration of the ERP Systems for changes, eg Bank Account details, BU Merger/Demerger GL Account creation etc.
• Gain further knowledge of the ERP systems to allow you to successfully complete this role.

Person SpecificationQualifications and training

• Degree, or relevant qualification

Skills and ExperienceIT

• Strong applications knowledge in particular, SAP, and other applications (eg Business Intelligence).
• Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Operational

• Knowledge or appreciation of how systems are used to analyse projects and business unit indicators, with a basic understanding of the various accounting concepts that could be adopted.
• Knowledge or appreciation of basic accounting functions such as AP, AR, Timesheets and how they interact with each other.
• Ability to analyse and interpret and process map accounting/business processes.

Organisation and Management

• Able to plan and deliver projects within agreed timeframes.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to influence others.
• A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team.
