Job Description

RPG Analyst ProgrammerOur client who are based on the north west side of Birmingham have an exciting opportunity for an RPG Analyst Programmer to join on a permanent basis. The role will be to help design, build and support new and existing systems. Your primary focus will beto support the remote sites/business in the group (both UK and European sites) and work on projects to migrate systems onto common platforms.Role responsibilities:

  • Working on LANSA/RPG business system applications, specifically sales and distribution systems
  • Supporting and upgrading INFOR XA ERP systems to the latest level
  • Preparing technical specifications
  • Implementing, testing and integrating new applications
  • Investigating and diagnosing system faults and errors, resolving technical issues.
  • Analysing error trends aimed at reducing or minimising downtime
  • Scheduling and running regular tests to enhance the current systems and applications
  • Identifying and developing functionality changes
  • Monitoring and responding to helpdesk requests
Skills required:
  • A passion for software development coupled with strong technical and analytical skills
  • Proven experience as a software developer and innovator within your previous roles with knowledge of RPG, and ideally LANSA. (Although LANSA training will be given)
  • Experience of working with Infor XA
  • Web technology integration, particularly REST API integration.
  • A degree specialising in Business IT or Computer Science or relevant experience.
  • A proven background in developing solutions within the business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop
  • An aptitude for applying technology and structured problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Team Spirit - youll need to be prepared to get involved in whatever it takes to get the job done.
