Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available with a global law firm for a Risk Assurance Auditor on a permanent basis, at their offices in Birmingham City Centre within the newly established Assurance function.Supporting the Audit Manager and Head of Assurance, you will partner with the business, delivering fit-for-purpose recommendations that add value to the way that the firm operates. You will undertake a wide range of process, and operational audits focusing on high risk areas.Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the end-to-end audit process including planning, fieldwork, reporting and action follow-up.
  • Delivering/assisting on a wide range of file, departmental, operational and process audits focused on key risk areas and international standards adopted by the firm.
  • Engaging with teams at all levels including Partners, General Counsel Team and Business Services to deliver audits.
  • Reporting findings to the Audit Manager as they arise.
  • Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of key controls and processes.
  • Making recommendations for improvements in controls and procedures around areas of identified weaknesses and validating that the necessary improvements are implemented.
  • Assisting the Audit Manager and / or Head of Assurance with other assurance projects as and when required.
  • Contributing to projects utilising Artificial or Augmented Intelligence (AI) and drawing on other innovations to enhance audit efficiency, effectiveness and quality.
  • Working with the firms risk, compliance and wider functions, leveraging and sharing knowledge and supporting compliance with legal requirements, policies and contracts.
  • Supporting the enhancement of policy, processes and procedures in line with audit findings and other identified needs.
  • Supporting oversight of international and other standards adopted by the business including ISO9001 (quality), ISO14001 (environment), ISO50001 (energy), ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO22301 (business continuity).
  • Contributing to wider General Counsel Team and firm wide initiatives for the betterment of the firm as a whole.
    • The Risk Assurance Auditor will possess practical experience of internal audit, risk management and/or related assurance functions and an understanding of how risk and assurance play a major role in good Governance. You will be a confident assurance professional with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills and ability to handle sometimes challenging situations, have ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare concise oral and written reports and establish and retain effective working relationships and to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and orally. You will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work methodically and with focus in a vibrant, fast paced environment.
