Job Description

Your new roleNational Highways are currently recruiting for a Reporting Analyst to join the Management Information & Reporting team within Capital Portfolio Management.The purpose of this role is to review and interpret performance data from Directorate portfolio and programme offices to present holistic and objective reports of the Companys performance for internal and external audiences.This is a key role providing insight and analysis of cost and schedule progress against baseline and operational plans. Identifying issues, opportunities and trends to provide meaningful management information to inform decision making.You will play a key role in preparation and assurance of information to meet our reporting obligations to our monitor (Office of Road & Rail) and shareholder (Depart for Transport).This role requires someone who can work with all directorates across the business to develop report formats and templates to meet the evolving needs of stakeholders, whilst maintaining or improving the efficiency and quality of input from project teams.The role requires experience of handling complex data with the right candidate being part of the team that develops and maintains processes for efficient and accurate transfer of data from various systems into CPMs Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) software.What youll be leading on

  1. Carry out routine analysis to inform reports for key stakeholders including the Executive Directors, Secretary of State, Shareholder (Department for Transport) and our monitor (Office Road Rail).
  2. Liaise with Finance Business Partners and Portfolio Management Offices to investigate variances against control points and develop routine analysis to identify trends.
  3. Ensure robust data management practices and identify and correct issues at source through effective stakeholder management and cross Directorate working.
  4. Engage with Directorates across National Highways to improve data quality and timeliness of report production.
  5. Produce key reports and provide additional ad hoc analysis when required to support decision making. Job Title Reporting and Management Information Analyst Reports to Job Title Reporting Manager Division and Directorate Capital Portfolio Management (CPM)Job Reference 22943A
  6. Maintain and improve processes for efficient data transfer into EPM. Develop reporting outputs from the system, capturing requirements and supporting production of key documents.
  7. Maintain database of commercial estimates and provide analysis against various control points.
  8. Support efficient management of the MI & R team by being responsible for preparing and agreeing detailed plans to ensure reporting deadlines are met and have been validated through the relevant governance / approvals.
To be successful youll need
  • Experience and knowledge of applying business analysis tools and techniques togather requirements and produce analysis and reports
  • Evidence of analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Advanced Excel with knowledge of Macro desirable
  • Experience of successful engagement with stakeholders at all levels, with different technical understanding
  • Experience ofhandling and managing large numbers of diverse datasets
A bit about usThe Capital Portfolio Management team is responsible for planning for future Road Periods and optimisation of the current Roads Investment Strategy. They carry out portfolio analytics and reporting to provide assurance to the Executive, the Board and externalstakeholders that the current and future National Highways capital investment programmes are deliverable, affordable and expected to realise National Highways commitments and strategic objectives.
