THE BUSINESSOne of the UKs leading suppliers of two-way radios, is looking for an experienced Radio Engineer (Field Service) to join their engineering team. The head office is based in Billingham, Teesside however as a field service engineer, your remit will be totravel to different client sites across the country and beyond. This is a field-based role and so you will travel the UK and very occasionally overseas, servicing and repairing client equipment.The business is market leader in the hire and sale of high-quality two-way radios, and in the design and installation of complex communications solutions. The company was founded in 1990 in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2015 they opened offices in Cardiff to caterfor their ever-expanding business needs in Wales and the South of England. In 2018 they opened a further office in Teesside to deal with further expansion in the business.The business provides communications solutions across the whole business spectrum, and in the fast-moving world of todays business, two-way radio communications play a crucial role in the safety and welfare of people.Safety is essential to the business, and their clients depend on them being able to deliver reliable communications every time. Their commitment to customer care and to providing technical support, rapid response repairs and top-quality service is demonstratedby them being accredited with the European ISO 9001:2008 quality standard. In addition, the organisation supplies and supports over 250 Watch Schemes, throughout the United Kingdom which makes them one of the leading providers of radio link schemes in theUK. Many Police forces throughout the country are linked to CCTV control rooms and retails security radio systems, using the Radios in the constant fight against crime and disorder.THE ROLEObjective of the role
  • To support the companys growth and profitability goals by conducting hardware installations, programming, and repairs.
  • To take a technical lead position within the existing team of engineers and liaise with manufacturers for the company radio solutions.
  • To undertake project management and overcome any technical issues that are encountered.
  • The successful candidate will provide installation management for new and existing client installations, throughout the UK and occasionally in mainland Europe, including the pre-sales stage to help plan and scope the installations.
  • You will manage installations, maintain efficient best working practices, manage the pre-installation site surveys, and create project documentation (including photographs, site maps and recommendations for equipment).
  • You will also manage, track and update installation documentation through internal tools from deployment and installation to completion and handover to the customer service support desk.
  • Hardware preparation and installation, radio repairs & programming.
  • Undertake project management and overcome any technical issues that are encountered.
  • Take the technical lead position, liaising with manufacturers for the company radio solutions.
  • Electronic bench engineering skills.
THE PERSON
  • From a radio engineer background and proficient with two-way radio systems including range testing.
  • Experienced in working within a commercial environment.
  • A good communicator.
  • Computer literate and confident dealing with people at all levels.
  • Well organised and capable of handling a programme of projects and have good customer facing skills.
  • Polite and professional whilst being adaptable to their wide client base.
  • A team player who can work effectively with other engineers and with colleagues remotely in other branches.
  • Proactive and hands on.
  • Flexible to different tasks as and when required.
  • Reliable and punctual with strong attendance and work ethic.
  • Extremely organised and capable of planning their own workload and assisting with colleagues work planning.
  • Ambitious and looking for a long-term career with a successful and growing company.
