Cost Estimator / Quantity SurveyorLocation: BirminghamSalary: £40k - £50kWorking: HybridJob Advertisement: Cost Estimator and Quantity SurveyorAre you a meticulous and detail-oriented professional with a passion for numbers and a knack for accurately estimating costs Are you experienced in the tender process for commercial and residential building projects If so, we have an exciting opportunityfor you!A leading commercial and residential building company, is seeking a Cost Estimator and Tender Process Specialist to join a growing building and construction team in Birmingham. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the companys growth plans by ensuringaccurate cost estimates and supporting the tender process for new projects.Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive cost estimates for commercial and residential building projects, considering factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to gather project specifications and requirements.
  • Analyse project blueprints, drawings, and other relevant documentation to identify cost drivers and potential risks.
  • You will also conduct Take offs and produce Bill of Quantities on projects.
  • Research and source current market prices for construction materials, labor rates, and subcontractor services to ensure accurate cost estimations.
  • Prepare detailed and itemised cost breakdowns, including quantities, unit costs, and total estimates.
  • Collaborate closely with the procurement team to evaluate supplier bids and negotiate favorable pricing.
  • Participate in the tender process by preparing and submitting comprehensive and compelling proposals.
  • Assist in the evaluation of subcontractor bids, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, construction technologies, and cost estimation methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation or quantity surveying for commercial and residential building projects, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, labor rates, and subcontractor services.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
  • Understanding of project management principles including planning and risk.
  • Familiarity with the tender process and associated documentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid organisational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
