Job Description

Production Team LeaderBirminghamAutomotiveUp to £25,000, pensionShifts rotating weekly6am to 2pm (+2 hours compulsory overtime to 4pm)4pm to 12am (+2 hours compulsory overtime to 2am)Shift allowance also payableThis manufacturing organisation is part of a wider, global automotive tier 1, supplying into all the major Japanese and European OEM’s. The business has gone through major investment and restructure which has only strengthened the organisation. They have asked us to recruit an experienced, manufacturing/automotive Team Leader for one of their manufacturing zones.You will good understanding of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and have strong people management skills to motivate and lead a small team in what is a highly complex manufacturing zone that is critical to success of the final product.Your responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a team in the manufacture of automotive components to supply key vehicle manufacturers in the European automotive industry
  • To carry out all Production Team Member activities to the correct standard when required
  • To take appropriate actions when Team Members are not complying with processes and procedures
  • Report defects to Zone controller
  • Maintain high standards of quality control at all times
  • Inspect finished Product to identify defects in manufacture
  • Ensure that the Stop, Call and Wait procedure is followed when any machine breakdown or quality issue arises
  • To understand, maintain the discipline and standard with the 5S of the cell that is being worked in accordance with the requirements
  • To report incidents and hazardous situations to the Zone Controller or the EH&S dept
  • To ensure that PPE is used in accordance with health and safety requirements and adherence to other accepted safe systems of work, including the correct use and treatment of equipment and to set a good example for other employees
  • To adhere to all other health & safety requirements as specified in OHSAS18001 and to ensure that all requirements under IATF9001 are followed and adhered to
  • As Production Team Leader you will be expected to have the following Technical Expertise:
  • Awareness of IATF9001 procedures
  • Good Knowledge of Department systems and Documentation e.g.: Control plan, PIS process Flows, dealing abnormality
  • Good Presentation skills
  • Carry out Destruction checks
  • Carry out repairs.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of automotive industry
  • Manufacturing / production experience
  • Ability to understand and adhere to oral and written instructions
  • Ability to familiarise themselves with the manufacturing process
  • Ability to contribute to the maintenance of quality control
  • Ability to work in a safe manner with due regard to other members of staff and to the use of all machinery and equipment
  • Ability to always work consistently and conscientiously
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
  • A methodical clean and organised approach to work
  • Flexibility in their approach to the job and keenness to gain experience in other manufacturing processes as the company expands
  • Enthusiasm to learn and to undertake in-house training
  • A positive attitude to working on their own as well as in a team
  • Keenness to contribute to the improvement of manufacturing techniques
