Contract Production MS SQL Server DBA, Database Administrator, SSRS Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, West Midlands OR Nottingham / Mansfield. Starts ASAPLeading Retail Distribution Systems Company requires contract MS SQL Server DBA to maintain a high standard of data quality, performance and integrity throughout company databases as well as ensuring Database Security within the IT / end user teams. My client operates several SQL Server instances from SQ Server 2005 - 2017 (lots of 2012) and have some Oracle instances that underpin business applications.The Role:Database administration in UAT, Pre-Production & Production environmentsWork closely with the application developers and infrastructure team to deliver performance tuning and optimization of SQL and the bespoke applicationsMonitor database performanceMonitor and maintain database storage resourcesMonitor and maintain database maintenance plans for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statisticsMaintain database documentation as requiredMaintain and administer database security accessPerform database Ad-hoc backups and restoresTroubleshoot and resolve database performance issuesUndertake start of day checks and resolve issuesKnowledge of MS SQL Server disaster recovery technologiesExercise knowledge of Oracle database technologiesProactively monitor and respond to MS SQL Server database AlertsInstall database software service packs and cumulative updates as necessaryAbility to liaise with Developers, Managers and Senior ManagersRequired Skills and Experience:Youre an experienced production DBA, whos passionate about quality data, performance and optimization and are now ready to jump into a high visibility roleExperience of Oracle database supportA track record in successfully delivering performance tuning and optimization improvements in a production systemYou are able to take ownership of the DB environments and contribute toward the roadmap planning of the applications that utilize themExperience with both PaaS & IaaS in the Cloud would be an assetYou may have had experience in designing and supporting SQL server, BI platforms (SSRS) and Data Warehouses (nice to have)The Technologies and methodologies in use:Microsoft SQL ServerOracleSSRS & Web focusVisual StudioTFS (for source control)ITILRedgatePlease send CV now for immediate consideration!Contract Production MS SQL Server DBA, Database Administrator, SSRS, Some Oracle Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham or Near Nottingham and Mansfield Required skills
