Job Description

Closing Date - 29th November 2020Birmingham 2022 are recruiting for an experienced Procurement Category Manager to join a team of Procurement experts leading high profile contracts for a Global sporting event. Supporting the Head of Procurement, you will be delivering key category procurement processes and provide ongoing contract management support. This is a hands-on role and encompasses the full spectrum of tender and contract management activities. If you are looking for a challenging new role covering multiple areas, a wide mix of stakeholders and with a legacy impact that will last long after your delivery then this is the role for you!Our stakeholder management is a critical area of the role and the softer skillsets of building relationships, supporting their journey to market and providing strong procurement project delivery leadership is essential. The role incumbent will have a strong background in procurement, excellent commercial acumen, experience in contract management and a background in public sector procurement is essential.Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of procurements in the games procurement environment to meet time, budget, quality and resource parameters in accordance with good professional practices, legislative requirements, Organising Committee policies and procedures, OJEU thresholds and Public Contract Regulations 2015 (PCR2015)
  • Advise on procurement strategy options, evidenced by best practice examples or fit for purpose examples.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to implement an efficient and effective working relationship.
  • Provide research and specialist advice on complex procurements including procurement led elements of sponsorship.
  • Participate and assist in the effective delivery of tenders to secure goods and services on the most advantageous value for money terms, via procurement strategies or VIK sponsorship deals.
  • Effective and appropriate management of key stakeholders and key operational staff to meet project outcomes and changing organisational needs relevant to the nominated divisions
  • Provide management information to HOP and board members in relation to your category area
  • Support the team and HOP in their continuous improvement drive
  • Support market engagement approach within the business
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date record of procurement activities with use of Project management principles
  • Contribute to and provide management support to the maintenance of management reporting systems to track and manage procurement activities at project and functional level
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders in relation to effective contract management
  • Provide an audit service in relation to contract management compliance across the nominated divisions

  • Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
  • Extensive public sector procurement experience, with evidence of delivery of end-to-end OJEU/sub-OJEU procurements
  • Demonstrate resilience and time management with the ability to work independently and manage own workload
  • Use of e-tendering software in end to end tendering
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal) and collaborator
  • Experience in facilitating procurement outcomes to improve value for money propositions and support our legacy objectives in relation to social value and sustainability.
  • Preparation of contractual documents for external/ public review
  • Contract management experience across a variety of contracting methods including fixed price, cost plus, schedule of rates, panel of providers
  • Advanced skills in MS office applications, contract management systems, P2P awareness, E-tender software
  • Desirable
  • Competitive dialogue experience
  • Awareness of Dynamics P2P, Delta e-tender, smartsheets would be an advantageous but not essential)
