Job Description

Your new roleThe Operations Portfolio Delivery Manager (PDM) will support the Operations Business Partner and directorate in developing the Operations vision, strategies, roadmaps and priorities. Within defined governance the Operations PDM will then execute the agreedprojects and programmes required to deliver the vision. The PDM is accountable for the delivery of complex products and services that are being delivered by multiple teams or have high technical or political risk.What youll be leading on1. Manage key aspects (the plan, budget, governance, health & safety, etc.) of large scale IT projects across lifecycle to reach agreed business and strategic benefits, and contribute to the management of contract compliance and risk in an effective way.2. Ensure the Portfolio has the right mix of experienced and qualified technical and business change skills and resource is recruited in good time to not delay the delivery of key outcomes.3. Apply an appropriate programme/project management framework, to an agreed standard, when setting up projects, liaising with other Programme Managers or team members and related projects to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated.4. Support Operations in developing the their vision, strategies, roadmaps and priorities and then form the projects and programmes that will deliver the vision.5. Manage or supervise programme/projects teams, contributing to the team members career development to ensure continuing Operations delivery knowledge and skills are developed in house.6. Work with suppliers and other Directorates to ensure that all programmes/projects deliver best value and maximise benefits to customers, both during delivery and following completion.To be successful youll need

  • Must have demonstrable experience in leading and delivering complex digital initiatives and Change programmes / Portfolios
  • Holds a certified accreditation in Project, Programme management and Risk, with experience of delivering projects and change via waterfall and agile frameworks across multiple diverse business units.
  • A deep understanding and experience of delivery waterfall and agile projects and programmes across multiple diverse business units
  • Strong Commercial skills with ability to negotiate and manage contracts in conjunction with Commercial and Procurement teams
  • Outcome focussed with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring of team members
  • Experience of delivering Operational Technology, and in particular roadside technology would be an advantage
