Job Description

RSR Police is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent markets.RSR Police are currently recruiting for Police Staff Investigators to be based in Birmingham to join the Professional Standards Department and work as part of an investigative team to promote and improve public trust and confidence in policing, by resolving dissatisfaction swiftly and at the appropriate ethical level, focusing on recovery of service rather than prolonged punitive processesThese roles are initially a short term temporary contract for 3 months, working Monday to Friday Office Hours. The rate of pay for this role is £15.44 per hour PAYE.Main Duties

  • Assist the Investigating Officer in the investigation of Complaints, Conduct, Death and Serious Injury incidents and miscellaneous matters, including:
  • Securing and preserving evidence
  • Interviewing officers and staff, as well as other third parties
  • Scene Preservation
  • Searches of person, vehicles, premises and land
  • Arresting officers and staff as required
  • Continual assessment of allegations and appropriate actions
  • Provide appropriate care for victims, witnesses, complainants, police officers and police staff in relation to their relevant role in an investigation
  • Deliver and explain Local Resolutions to both public and staff
  • Correctly assess complaints, conduct and other matters in accordance with legislation, guidance and organisational values
  • Research complaints and conduct matters in a proportionate manner in order to establish the most appropriate ethical level of response
  • Be guided by the force vision and values and the Code of Ethics regarding all decisions to resolve dissatisfaction
  • Maintain an agreed contact plan and communicate with employees and the public, to manage the expectations of all parties concerned and discuss options for resolution, allowing all parties suitable voice in the process
  • Maintain an understanding of legislation, policies and procedures in order to fairly measure staff performance against these standards
  • Deal with telephone enquiries or personal visits by members of the public or other agencies, taking responsibility to seek to resolve at the earliest opportunity the issues raised
  • Essential Requirements
  • Recent and proven experience of investigations preferably with a professional standards environment
  • Experience of collecting evidence from both CCTV and body worn camera sources, statement taking, reviewing of audio transcripts, searching and viewing system logs.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, demonstrating the utmost integrity and professionalism.
  • Proven and demonstrable commitment to fairness, diversity and inclusion.
  • Public focus and ability to recover service through negotiation and influence using strong communication skills
  • The ability to analyse and evaluate information in response to unique problems, ensuring policy decisions are recorded.
  • A proven history of strong decision making supported by the National Decision Making Model
  • A thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, any associated regulations, or force and national policies regarding this field.
  • Experience and understanding of the use of sensitive intelligence, its handling and dissemination.
  • Previous experience of effective partnership working with other departments and agencies.
