Job Description

Job Title: Play LeaderLocation: Aston, BirminghamSchool: All-Through SchoolAbout Us: We are currently working with a vibrant and diverse all-through school located in Aston, Birmingham, committed to providing a stimulating learning environment for children of all backgrounds. This diverse and vibrant learning environementvalues dedication to teaching and learning, creativity, and fostering a positive atmosphere for both students and staff.Position: Play Leader (Primary Department) As a Play Leader in the schools Primary Department, you will play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and engaging play environment for our students. We are seeking a dedicated individual who is passionate about childrenswell-being and can contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of our school.Key Responsibilities:

  • Be able to make the necessary preparations for play e.g. setting up the resources/space, preparing play activities and so forth appropriate for the age and abilities of the children.
  • Be aware of Child Protection procedures, to understand the necessary protocols and to communicate any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Leader.
  • Be aware of the schools policies on Accidents, Behaviour, Play, Health and Safety, Inclusion, Employment, Complaints etc. and to incorporate these into everyday practice.
  • Provide the Play Coordinator with feedback or reports etc. as reasonably requested or as necessary.
  • To attend all training and meetings as reasonably required for you to undertake your role, as agreed with the Headteacher.
  • Be approachable and accessible to all pupils, ensuring that all interactions are professional and focus on the childs needs.
  • To support and facilitate the best possible play experiences for the children. This will include playing with the children when invited and when appropriate to do so
  • Play Leader may be asked to devise and deliver play activities appropriate to the age and individual needs of children and which reflect and maintain the Playwork Principles
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage with children in a positive and constructive manner.
