Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a national property consultancy on the hire of a Planning Director to their team in Birmingham.Our client has an exciting growth opportunity for an experienced level individual to join the established Planning & Development team in Birmingham. This is an opportunity to help shape and influence the direction and strategy of the Midlands team. The successfulcandidate will generate fees through dealing with a variety of planning and development matters, enhancing existing client relationships and securing new clients. This is an exciting and challenging new role that will suit someone looking to take their planningcareer to the next level or simply looking for a change and the opportunity to join a business with a forward-looking culture.Base yourself in modern offices with easy access to local transport links and a short walk from the central tram and train stations.Main tasks:

  • The provision of professional planning and development advice to internal and external clients on a variety of planning matters, adopting the lead role as the head of the planning team
  • Negotiations with local authorities and other statutory undertakers on behalf of clients in relation to the promotion of sites, planning applications and other related matters
  • Preparation of written representations, and attending and participating in informal hearings, public inquiry appeals and examination hearings
  • Contributing towards the smooth running and promotion of the Planning & Development division
  • Overseeing the work of more junior members of the team
  • Developing new business for the Planning & Development division, and promoting the other services offered by the company
RequirementsYou will be MRTPI qualified with experience in a planning and development role, from a consultancy or local authority background. You will have a strong knowledge of the Birmingham and Midlands property market as well as excellent planning technical knowledgeto advise and manage both team and clients. In addition, you will have the skills and ability to generate new business across a team and wider firm.
