Job Description

Role: PHP DeveloperLocation: BirminghamSalary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Benefits Skills: PHP, Laravel, MySQL, Git, RESTful APIs, HTML, CSS, JavaScriptA fantastic Birmingham based FinTech company is continuing their journey of growth and diversification. To continue developing on their exciting journey they are looking for a talented Senior PHP Developer to join their evolving development team.The role will allow you to work with individuals across the company in a dynamic and well-funded financial services start up. The organisation is a small (though rapidly growing), nimble, non-bureaucratic and very flat in structure. You will be working on several interesting projects in the FinTech industry using PHP and good engineering practices, such as code review, continuous integration and daily releases.Essential

  • Passionate about modern software engineering best practice
  • Knowledge of OO PHP and MVC
  • Experience of the Laravel framework (or similar)
  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, Javascript
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Previous experience developing RESTful web services and both client / server-side components
  • Experience with Version Control - Git, SVN, Mercurial
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles
  • Experience with cloud hosting, such as AWS
  • Experience with unit testing, eg PHPUnit
  • Passion for User Experience (UX) and Customer Experience (CX)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate within all levels of a business
  • Good problem solver with a passion for using the latest technologies
  • Team player, friendly, approachable with a flexible attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to spot errors and question information received
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting deadlines
