Job Description

Your new roleAs Performance & Assurance Manager for National Operations you willmonitor and report key metrics regarding the operational delivery of services delivered by the National Traffic Operations Team. Based at our National Traffic Operations Centre (NTOC) in Quinton, Birmingham, you will collate and analyse various data setsto produce team and individual performance reports. You will produce regional and national network performance reports using traffic, roadworks and incident data to provide business intelligence that supports strategic decision making. You will help evolvethe current and develop new National Operations processes to ensure team performance is optimised and in line with business objectives. You will also be key to delivering improvements to our services by supporting project delivery and system improvements.What youll be leading on

  • Monitor team performance through established performance measures
  • Develop new performance measures when required as the teams capabilities and services evolve.
  • Define the criteria used as part of the measures and the factors and decisions that would influence a change in performance levels.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service quality and efficiency; recommend, agree and implement solutions, ensuring that business benefits are clearly identified and measured.
  • Manage the maintenance of operational procedures, review, update and change where necessary, using LEAN principals.
  • Identify risks associated with organisational, system, process or procedural changes that impact on National Operations and propose appropriate mitigating actions
  • Maintain effective communications and working relationships with regional operations and stakeholders, to share information and to contribute to a collaborative approach that drives continuous improvement
  • To ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity
  • Recommend evidence-based process improvements
  • Demonstrate benefits of improvement recommendations
  • Supporting the delivery of performance and system improvement projects
  • Be responsible for local resource and roster management of team
  • Temporary and occasional line management responsibilities to individuals seconded to support you
To be successful
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft PowerBI to create, develop and produce reports using complex and varied data sets
  • Have proven experience working in complex operational organisations and/or environments
  • Have proven experience of monitoring and reporting on the performance of multiple operational teams
  • Experience of identifying and analysing problems to provide intelligence-based recommendations.
  • Agile project management experience desirable
  • Experience in the successful delivery of change in an operational environment
  • Ability to manage own workflow to enable timely achievement of business objectives.
  • Very good communication skills at all organisational levels
