Job Description

Mechanical Field Service EngineerPermanent£27,000 to £34,000 DOEBirminghamWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Field Service Engineer to join our client who provides service and maintenance for various packaging machinery installed at customer locations within the United Kingdom.Monday to Friday 09:00 am - 05:00 pmResponsibilities - To be responsible for the service and maintenance of packaging machinery to the satisfaction of the customer, ensuring that the optimum level of efficiency and reliability is achieved.- To undertake both preventative breakdown servicing and/or repairs to the following:

  • Pneumatic and battery-operated hand banding tools
  • Semi-automatic & fully automatic strapping machines
  • Semi-automatic pallet wrapping machines
  • Semi-automatic carton sealing machines
  • Semi-automatic case forming machines
- Customer site visits including driving of company vehicles & completing customer inductions / safety courses / PTW documentation / RAMS etc- Manual activities - Lifting/manoeuvring tools & equipment, locating tools on customer sites and repair bays- To respond to customer demands and needs by providing service and technical support to customers as directed by the relevant Business Service Manager and/or Service Co-ordinator.- To plan, manage and ensure the efficient use of their working time.- To prepare and maintain all documentation relative to service activities undertaken, ie: Report sheets, RAMS etc, as these are necessary to facilitate the costing and invoicing of work completed.- Documentation to be forwarded to the service desk at the end of each working day via the App.which will be installed on the company provided mobile phone.- To liaise with customers and assist as necessary in the resolution of technical queries.- To carry out customer training as and when required.- To undertake and carry out relative internal and external training on the range of machinery appertaining to the role.- Establish and maintain good customer relations to recognise and respond to customer requirements regarding performance and repair of company products, and to project the best possible company image.- Assist with the control of spare parts required by the engineer to maintain the equipment being serviced / repaired.- Report when workshop or customer equipment is at EOL or damaged beyond economical repair and provide recommendations when replacements are required- The duties stated above are in no way intended to be restrictive, they are intended to be an indication only to achieve the overall objective of meeting the company service policy/maintenance programme and are flexible to the development of the individual.From time to time the individual may be expected to perform other duties which are within the individuals capabilities.Requirements- A recognised apprenticeship leading to an ONC or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is essential.- Experience in a workshop environment - using general workshop tools & equipment- Good engineering and assembly skills are required- Pneumatic and/or electrical skills are an advantage- Knowledge and experience of working in steel mills / steel industry is preferred but not essential.- A good understanding of all relevant Health & Safety Regulations is essential.- A current full driving licence is essential.- Good product knowledge- Computer literate- Must be a team player, but have an ability to work on own initiative- Must have an ability to develop and maintain good customer relations- Must have a flexible approach to the jobWe offer- Company laptop and mobile phone- Company vehicle (personal use requires fuel reimbursement) - Company credit card- Company pension scheme- Holiday entitlement is 26 days plus 8 statuary holidaysMechanical Field Service EngineerPermanent£27,000 to £34,000 DOEBirminghamAdecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
