Job Description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Material Controller to join a leading manufacturing company based in North Birmingham.Reporting to the Materials Manager the main purpose of the Material Controller role is to ensure that materials and component stocks are in line with forecast and scheduled production demand in a busy and manufacturing environment.Key roles and responsibilities of the Material Controller:

  • Expediting parts from suppliers to ensure that material availability meets company targets set in functional plan and business metrics
  • Schedule Direct Line Feeds and checking supplier schedules prior to issue
  • Generate all schedules following the MRP run
  • Update and issue Perkins strategic stock analysis on a weekly basis and strategic stock review on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintaining levels and expediting Consignment stock to control inventory levels within min and max set
  • Stock levels to be maintained in line with functional plan and business metrics
  • Represent Supply Chain Department at daily production meetings.
  • Liaising with Sales and Manufacturing to ensure customer OTIF is maintained in line with functional plan and business objectives
Key skills and experience of the Material Controller:
  • Experience of working in a Material Controller or similar role in a manufacturing/production business
  • Hold knowledge of MRP systems
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Highly organised approach
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Team player - self motivated
