Job Description

Realty Law: Realty Law is a law firm specialising in long leasehold debt recovery in the residential and commercial sector. The work is very broad and covers many facets of leasehold and freehold properties.We are currently looking for an individual who has excellent communication skills and good attention to detail. This role would suit a current legal assistant or has recently qualified as a solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive but this is merely a guide and all levels are encouraged to apply should they have similar qualifications or experience in Property Litigation.Role Summary:The following areas are ones that you will handle on a day to day basis:Forfeiture of Residential and Commercial Leases - Issue of S146 Notices and Possession Claims:Drafting and service of S146 Notices, drafting of Claim Forms and Particulars for Possession Claims and preparation of Possession Claims for hearing (Full supervision and training will be given).Lease reviews:On each occasion where a client instructs us on a new development, we offer, as part of our basic service, a review of the Lease. An understanding of leases and standard terms is essential in a candidate to provide the information to our clients.Client Legal Queries:As part of our service to bulk referrers of work, we provide legal advice in respect of any quick queries which property managers have relating to the developments that they manage. These usually relate to fairly common breaches of lease, such as the use of premises for AirBnB, noise nuisance, unauthorised pets, etc… The advice usually involves reviewing the lease for a particular development and forming an opinion as to how the client can best resolve the issue for less complicated queries. Any difficult queries will be handled by the Litigation Manager but you may be needed to assist with the administration side of the difficult queries, such as typing up responses and obtaining documents required to answer them.Breaches of Lease - Advice and Declarations of Breach:This is the next stage from advising on breaches of lease and involves seeking a declaration of breach from the County Court and enforcing such declaration. Assistance is needed in drafting and presenting the claims and there will be ample opportunity to shadow the process and use precedents from previous matters but a background in property litigation is desirable.Assisting with Tribunal Claims- Applications for Determination of Reasonableness and Dispensations:As part of the litigation process the candidate will need to provide assistance with the preparation of documents, Statements of Case and Hearing Bundles for Tribunal matters.Defended Service Charge and Ground Rent Recovery - Small Claims Process & Enforcement:This will involve supervised drafting of Replies to Defence, preparation of Witness Statements, preparing Hearing Bundles and instructions for advocates together with various enforcement processes.Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Providing costs estimates for different types of cases. (Guidance will be given).
  2. Participating in client training seminars.
  3. Monitoring your chargeable hours and billing.
  4. Keeping up to date with legal and industry developments.
  5. Reporting to clients on a regular basis.
This role is for 27.5 hours a week and is an excellent role for someone starting in their legal career who wants to progress and move forward.
