Job Description

An independent special school are looking for a Learning Support Assistant - term time only, to work with pupils with BESD (Behavioural, Emotional, Social difficulties) and learning difficulties developing to SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) as their primary needs to support pupils in reaching to their full potential in a structured educational setting.This is a Full Time (40 hours per week) role, Monday to FridayAbout you:

  • 2 years experience in teaching children who have special/additional needs/SEMH
  • A teaching qualification - NVQ Level 3 or CACHE Level 3
  • A dedicated and motivated individual that will work towards pupils reaching to their full potential.
  • Experience with supporting 11-16 year olds.
  • Experience within dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Be able and willing to take on a challenge.
  • Responsibilities:
  • You will lead teaching assistants assigned to the class and be able to be supportive and work together as a team.
  • To maintain and track records on the learning and development of each pupil through observation and interactions. To then use this as a tool for planning and assessment.
  • To work in partnership with team, parents, and other professionals.
  • To take part in the upkeep of the classroom, ensuring resources are cared for and be a role model to the pupils.
  • To have a good balance of professionalism and being a warm, friendly and approachable individual in regard to pupils, team and parents.
  • To take part in any meetings required of you.
  • To ensure you take part in continuing professional development.
