Job Description

Lead Development Operations Engineer - Counter Terrorism Policing HQThe starting salary is £65,393 which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £62,552 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £66,997 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.Location: BirminghamCounter Terrorism Policing (CTP) depends on a wide variety of technology to protect the nation from threats. As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you’ll be part of a transformational team that will fundamentally change the way technical solutions are delivered tooperational policing. It’s an exciting chance to shape the new team and implement innovative tech. If you’ve got the skills, we’ve got an outstanding opportunity.As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you’ll join a new team of DevOps Engineers, working flexibly from home or from our offices in Birmingham or London. As a senior Engineer, you’ll own the DevOps pipeline for national systems that underpin CTP operations that keepthe country safe. It’s an exciting opportunity to support the development and operation of software. The goal To create a world-class function.Day to day, you’ll lead project teams to test and deploy product updates, implement integrations and improve automation and monitoring. At this level, you’ll also deal with issues and act as the technical product owner for the development pipeline. It meansworking closely with colleagues to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended. Meanwhile, the team will support good development processes: managing tools and testing environments, maintaining central code control,upholding development standards and writing software that automates systems.To join us as a Lead DevOps Engineer you’ll need a proven track record of creating and maintaining DevOps or similar pipelines. We’ll also be looking for a solid background in software engineering or platform infrastructure support. Finally, you’ll needa sound grasp of how testing works within a CI/CD pipeline, including automated testing. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness toundergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event thatpotential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.
