Established in 2006 PerfectHome is a household goods retailer that offers top quality products to customers through flexible weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment options.Were looking for a Junior Compliance Officer to join our expanding Team, based at our Head office in Sheldon, Birmingham.Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Junior Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the Compliance Manager and Head of Compliance & Policy in conducting activities that ensure compliance with current legislation and regulations, including Health & Safety.Duties and Responsibilities:• Support in the compilation of individual Thematic Review proposals for approval by the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Policy and Risk, and conduct agreed reviews within proposed time frames.• Assist in agreeing actions with appropriate areas of the business and develop and support the supervision of action plans through to closure following reviews.• Supporting the Head of Compliance & Policy and Compliance Manager to deliver regulatory business objectives, in line with current FCA regulations and promoting an ethos of Treating Customers Fairly.• Continuously build knowledge of new/upcoming amendments to regulations in order to ensure current Company policies reflect the requirements.• Assist in annual review of policies.• Pro-actively ensure compliance throughout the business, reporting any concerns or breaches to the Head of Compliance & Policy and Compliance Manager.• Assist in maintaining the Company’s Policy Breach Register, and reporting on emerging themes in order to identify key areas of intervention.• Support the Compliance Manager in managing business compliance with WEEE regulations.• Support the Compliance Manager to ensure licensing requirements are met.• Ensure compliance with Data protection and GDPR regulations.• Assist in the analysis Complaints and Compliance Monitoring data to identify trends across the business, in order to identify key areas of intervention.• Support the Compliance Manager in carrying out Health and Safety Risk Assessments, including annual workstation and fire risk assessments, and considering how risks could be reduced.• Assist the Compliance Manager in preparing Health and Safety strategies and development of internal policy.• Update own knowledge of new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive guidance and any developments that affect our industry.Essential skills, knowledge and experience:• Has held a similar position within a commercial service sector environment with a continuous improvement/change management culture.• An ability to create high quality written, logical and clear documentation and briefing materials.• Good interpersonal skills and a team player.• The ability to work on own initiative and work under pressure with good time management skills.• Have the ability to interpret complex, technical material and present it appropriately.• Good communication and presentation skills.• Able to use MS Office.• Thorough knowledge of FCA regulations and handbook.• Clear understanding of Treating Customers Fairly.• Commercially aware with good judgement and clear thinking.• Ability to anticipate issues affecting the business and take preventative or corrective action.• Strong customer focus with the ability to relate decisions to the impact on customer service as well as income and costs.• Ability to challenge and deal with contentious issues, persuasive and decisive, demonstrating enthusiasm and resilience.Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:• Experience of report writing.• Experience of Project Management.• Working at a senior level dealing with internal stakeholders.• Relationship building.Measures / Competencies:• Critical thinking and problem solving.• Decision making.• Adaptability.• Time management.• Attention to detail.Benefits:Contributory pension scheme25 days holiday entitlement, increasing with service to a maximum of 30 days (pro rata for part-time employees)Your birthday off, every year!Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Policies (subject to qualifying conditions)Company sick pay (subject to scheme rules)Gym membershipPerkboxPerkbox MedicalHealth Cash Plan Required skills
