Job Description

IT ManagerBirminghamFull TimePermanentUp to £50,000Are you an experienced Group IT Manager, seeking an exciting opportunity within an established Supply, Distributions and Construction businessIf so youre bound to be interested in this position to join and oversee the IT functions Management Team, supporting a business specialising in a range of commercial services.IT Manager Role & Responsibilities:Manage the team ensuring the IT department meet the standards and performance required by the Group. Coordinating and managing processes relating to the procurement, configuration, and deployment of user IT equipment such as laptops, tablets, smartphones etc.Ensure the administration, tracking and monitoring of IT assets are accurate and auditable, and the information is available to the Board when required. Organising and overseeing remote support activities, liaising with external support providers as necessary,to ensure efficient use of support resources.

  • Assist the Group with planning and organising departmental moves as and where necessary. This will involve moving PCs and phones to a new location, reconfiguring links and testing (may include some out of hours work to minimalise disruption)
  • Installing and upgrading new or existing software on client machines, ensuring that this is done efficiently and with minimal disruption
  • To look into and recommend new technology to help increase business efficiency
  • Ensuring adherence to the IT Security Policy and monitoring the network for any security risks or breaches and acting accordingly in the event of a risk or a breach.
  • Assertive management of assets, including management of Asset database
  • Supporting the accounts department with the implementation of new accounts programme (ERP System), and managing the IT software for this
IT Manager Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience in developing, leading and managing IT teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong people management and organisational skills
  • Productive forward planning and projection
  • Microsoft certification and/or significant equivalent work-related experience within an IT Service Manager or Second Line/Third Line technical support role.
  • Experience with a range of technologies, including Active Directory, GPO, Windows desktop, Apple mobile devices, VOIP telephone systems, Networking (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, VLAN), M365 etc
  • Knowledge of Cloud Based technologies and storage, preferably with Microsoft Azure or other similar platforms
  • Experience of Windows image build, configuration and deployment
  • Demonstrable experience using service management toolsets
  • Demonstrable experience liaising with both internal and external suppliers and contractors
  • Capacity to keep abreast of and to adapt to new technology and tools both for internal IT use and to identify potential applications within the business
  • Experience of software implementation projects
IT Manager Specification:
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to explain technical jargon in laymans terms
  • Proactive and able to operate without direct supervision
  • High quality verbal and written communication skills
  • Has the ability to effectively help and manage clientsand colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and meet required deadlines
