Job Description

IT ManagerBirmingham £35,000 - £40,000Join our client as their ICT and Applications support Manager and make a real impact on mental health services!Are you passionate about using your IT expertise to contribute to the wellbeing of individuals and communitiesOur client, the leading provider of mental health services in Birmingham and the West Midlands, is seeking an experienced and dynamic ICT and Applications support Manager to lead their ICT department and support their mission of challenging mental healthstigma.As the ICT and applications support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in planning and coordinating all aspects of ICT across our organisation. You will lead the ICT service, line manage the IT Support Technician and Apprentice, and collaborate with externalIT support providers to ensure seamless service delivery.Key Responsibilities:Service Delivery:

  • Develop and implement a Digital Strategy for the organisation.
  • Design and implement changes to ICT software and hardware, collaborating with consultants as needed.
  • Manage procurement of ICT equipment and maintain a comprehensive inventory.
  • Oversee the ICT network, ensuring optimization of the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Triage support tickets, review IT call trends, and proactively manage problem resolution.
  • Maintain positive relationships with IT service providers, ensuring cost effectiveness.
  • Manage and coach the internal IT Support Technician(s), serving as an escalation point.
  • Implement and maintain IT security measures in line with industry standards, including Cyber Essentials.
  • Manage IT data governance, support GDPR compliance, and ensure software alignment with the Digital Strategy.
  • Oversee the ICT departmental budget and assist service managers with their ICT budgets.
  • Keep senior managers and Trustees informed on IT projects, strategy, and implementation.

Essential Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar management role.
  • Good IT skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage high volumes of work.
  • Experience in managing staff.
  • Experience working well under pressure.
  • Interest and good understanding of IT hardware, Microsoft 365, computer and networking hardware, mobile technology, etc.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in supporting a diverse range of users.
Desirable but not Essential:
  • Experience of procuring ICT equipment and devices.
  • Administration experience of software.
  • Previous experience in 1st Line Support or other IT roles.
  • Formal IT qualifications (e.g., COMP TIA / ITIL) preferred but not essential.
  • Travel to locations around Birmingham may be necessary.
  • Experience in training users in basic IT skills.
  • Experience with Sophos security hardware and software.
  • Experience in information governance and Cyber Essentials.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience in developing SharePoint as an intranet.
