Job Description

IT ManagerBirmingham - £55k-£65k B7 4NAOur client, a respected engineering company with over 120 years in their sector is looking for an IT Manager to assist in their digitalisation transformation. Are you up for a new challenge Apply NowAbout the role:

  • Based in Birmingham, close to junction 6 of the M6 motorway and 10 mins from Birmingham city centre. This role is predominantly office based, and will offer some home working
  • You will be the sole IT leader on site, owning the IT strategy, hands-on and delivering change and transformation.
  • The board has already decided on several key IT projects they wish to deliver over the next 12 months. As IT Project Manager you will own, plan and deliver these projects, reporting to your stakeholders and the board of directors
    • Cloud back-up (Azure) assessing risk assessment
    • Policies, procedures and documentationwriting the rule book
    • Governance for Office 365
    • Rolling out the required infrastructure to enable colleagues to work in a hybrid capacity, which the group is moving towards
    • Conduct a full risk management exercise
    • Supporting the finance department with data collected and how it is used. Ensuring quality and managing risk of how it is held. Further supporting finance to develop a dashboard in PowerBI and PowerApps. PowerBI / Reporting / Development skills are notessential, but a strong awareness of managing the quality of data
    • Manage a third-party provider who offers user support (1st and 2nd line). Ensure they adhere to SLAs, acting as escalation and conducing supplier reviews
    • There are almost 200 users on site and in the field. Half of users are engineers, the remainder are sales, management and back-office
    • Mainly Microsoft environment, utilising Office 365 on the desktop, Azure for Cloud back-up, Business Centre as its ERP
Main skills and competencies:
  • A doer personality. Culturally top down, colleagues take ownership, accountability and someone who delivers
  • Although this is not a hands-on support role, from time to time you may need to support a user
  • An IT Manager that will roll up their sleeves with a let me help attitude
  • Attention to detail, with excellent written communication to produce documentation
  • Has a proven track record of delivering successful IT change and transformation projects. Acting as main point of contact, not one of the cogs in delivery machine
  • Someone who understands the business strategy and ensure there is an IT strategy to reflect this
  • Stakeholder management
