Job Description

IT Cloud EngineerOur Birmingham based client are currently looking for an IT Cloud Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis.The role is responsible for shaping the design, as well as developing and operating the infrastructure and applications focused on public and private Cloud technologies.Candidates must have experience in the following;

  • Strong experience as a Cloud and Systems Engineer with a core responsibility for cloud services.
  • A good background in Microsoft Windows server, system support experience and a strong background in systems administration.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with enterprise scale Windows technologies such as but not limited to Server platforms, Desktop platforms, Exchange Environments, Active Directory, Virtualization and Collaboration tools.
  • Working knowledge of agile or dev-ops.
  • Microsoft cloud certifications.
  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies.
  • Release management experience.
  • Good understanding of defect management processes.
  • Must have an organised and flexible approach to work.
  • Degree level education or equivalent.
    • Key aspects of the role are;
  • Looking at new emerging cloud technologies and service providers and assessing whether they will be of benefit to the company and progressing adoption where relevant.
  • Define standards and best practices around cloud technologies and how they should be adopted by internal and external teams.
  • Assist in the design and then build and support of the infrastructure for applications and systems.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous development tooling for technical teams to be able to build and deploy using pipelines.
  • Look to develop strategies and improvements around cost optimisation and usage reporting.
  • Work with other teams as part of service transition to coordinate the build and deployment of new application environments in conjunction with Project Delivery, Enterprise Architects, Application teams and 3rd party suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Development Teams where code changes are required, assist in defect resolution and ensure services are released into production in a controlled manner.
  • Responsible for adhering to Change and Configuration management processes, ensuring all changes are reviewed for quality, with rigorous testing and contingency/back-out planning, and that any supporting documentation is fully updated and to the agreed quality standard prior to implementation.
  • Proactively identifies, troubleshoots, researches and documents faults/errors and implements proposed fixes.
  • Supports and monitors the organisations cloud infrastructure (internal and external) and performs preventative maintenance work to ensure operational effectiveness and stability of the technical environment is maintained
